BONDOWOSO – SMAN 1 Bondowoso continues to prove why it is widely recognized as one of the most outstanding schools in the region. The school has once again achieved remarkable success, this time at the National Schools Debating Championship (NSDC) 2026, the prestigious English debating competition for senior high school students at the Bondowoso Regency level.
Competing against some of the best debate teams in the regency, the students of SMAN 1 Bondowoso delivered an impressive performance and proudly secured 2nd Place in the English Debate Competition.
The talented debate team consisted of Zanuba Chofsoh Fatimatus Zahra, Rifqi Abiyyu Wicaksono, and Aurelia Mahsya Ayu Firdhinia
Adding to the celebration, Rifqi Abiyyu Wicaksono successfully earned the title of 3rd Best Speaker and officially qualified to represent Bondowoso at the East Java Provincial NSDC Competition.
This achievement once again highlights the strong academic culture and competitive spirit nurtured at SMAN 1 Bondowoso. The school is not only known for excellence in academics and sports, but also for producing confident, critical, and globally minded students capable of competing in intellectual arenas.
The success of the debate team was guided by dedicated mentors, Eni Winarti and Dwi Yuar Listiana, who continuously trained and supported the students throughout the competition process.
Principal Ageng Jelly Purwanto expressed his appreciation and pride for the students’ achievement.
“This accomplishment reflects not only intelligence and language mastery, but also confidence, teamwork, discipline, and the courage to express ideas critically. We are proud that our students continue to shine and bring honor to the school and Bondowoso,” he stated.
The NSDC competition itself is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious academic events for high school students, focusing on critical thinking, argumentation skills, public speaking, and English proficiency.
In recent months, SMAN 1 Bondowoso has consistently gained public attention for its continuous achievements in various competitions — from athletics, swimming, and climbing to debate championships. This consistency has strengthened the school’s reputation as a true “HOME OF CHAMPIONS.”
